Travelers have faced hours-long security lines and missed flights as a partial government shutdown has continued for weeks.
The early morning hours saw ebbs and flows of passengers heading into security lines before their flights. Some of the busiest times were between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m. on Monday.
The announcement comes as long lines for TSA screening of air travelers at airports around the United States persist.
